Xu Hui

Xu Hui, Professor and Ph.D. Supervisor, serves as the Chief Scientist of the National Key R&D Program. He has been selected as a "Thousand Talents Plan" Youth Top-notch Talent by the Central Organization Department of the CPC, a Jiangsu Provincial Outstanding Youth Scholar, a candidate for the "333 Talent Project" in Jiangsu Province, and a high-level talent under the "Six Major Talent Peaks" initiative. Xu earned his Ph.D. from Jiangsu University in 2010 and was a visiting scholar at Rice University, USA. Currently, he serves as a member of the Energy and Environment Committee of the China Energy Society, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of *Composite Functional Materials*, and a Young Editorial Board Member for *Chinese Journal of Catalysis* and *Acta Physico-Chimica Sinica*. His research primarily focuses on photoelectrochemical engineering, including photocatalysis, green hydrogen energy, CO2 conversion and resource utilization. He has led over 20 national and provincial-level projects, including 4 National Natural Science Foundation general projects. Xu has published more than 400 SCI papers in international journals such as *Nature Energy*, *Angewandte Chemie International Edition*, *ACS Nano*, *Science Advances*, *AIChE Journal*, *Cell Reports Physical Science*, and *Industrial & Engineering Chemistry Research*, with 36 papers featuring an impact factor exceeding 10. He has filed over 80 domestic and international patents, with 20 Chinese invention patents granted. His papers have been cited over 29,000 times in SCI databases, achieving an H-index of 93. Among these, 33 papers were recognized as ESI highly cited papers, and 10 as ESI hot papers. In 2013, he received the China Top 100 Most Influential International Academic Papers Award (first author). In 2014, he was awarded the Third Prize of the China Petrochemical Science and Technology Progress Award (second author). In 2018, he collaborated with Hainan University to win the First Prize of the Hainan Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award (second author). In 2019, he was granted the Jiangsu Provincial Outstanding Youth Fund. From 2019 to 2022, he was consecutively listed as a Clarivate Analytics Highly Cited Researcher. From 2021 to 2024, he was consecutively recognized as an Elsevier Highly Cited Scholar. In 2019, his supervised graduate students won the Second Prize in the 16th "Challenge Cup" National College Student Academic Science and Technology Innovation Competition and the Special Prize in the Jiangsu Provincial Division. In 2020, he received the Hou Debang Chemical Science and Technology Youth Award. In 2021, he was awarded the Second Prize of the China Petrochemical Science and Technology Progress Award (first author). In 2024, he received the Second Prize of the Beijing Science and Technology Award (second author). In 2025, he was honored with the First Prize of the China Chemical Society Science and Technology Award for Fundamental Research Contributions (first author).
