Environmental Renewable Resources and Recycling Team

The leader of the Environmental Regeneration Resources and Recycling Team is Researcher/Professor Yong Yangchun, and the team currently has 31 teachers. Among them, there are 7 professors (1 foreign), 15 associate professors (6 foreign), and 4 doctoral supervisors. Our team is one of the first "Jiangsu Province Double Innovation Teams" and has established innovative platforms such as the East China Branch of the National Energy Non Grain Biomass Raw Material Research and Development Center, the Jiangsu Overseas Chinese Innovation and Entrepreneurship Base, the Zhenjiang High Tech Key Laboratory, the Jiangsu University Material Energy Research Institute, the Jiangsu University Hongrun Science and Technology Research Institute, the Jiangsu University Synthetic Biology and Biomass Refining International Cooperation Joint Laboratory, and the China Jiangsu University Japan Mie University Agricultural Waste Biomass High Value Utilization International Joint Research Center.

Main research direction:


1. Exploration of environmental renewable resources


Exploring the renewable potential, regeneration, and resource utilization pathways of environmental waste/pollutants; Exploration, genetic modification, and gene editing of germplasm resources for renewable biomass crops; Exploration and functional optimization of microorganisms/enzymes/genes for the transformation of environmental renewable resources; Rational design and de novo synthesis of environmental synthetic biology techniques and functional units for environmental regeneration resource conversion.


2. Environmental waste pollution control and low-carbon treatment technology


Environmental pollution monitoring and control technology for waste carbon resources (urban organic waste, agricultural and forestry waste (biomass, plastics, etc.), industrial carbon containing waste gas, etc.); Biocatalytic reforming and high-value recycling technology for renewable waste carbon resources in the environment; Synthesis and preparation technology of biobased chemicals, bioenergy products, and biobased materials based on renewable carbon resources in the environment.


3. Conversion and recycling of environmental renewable resources


Agricultural biomass resource utilization and high-value conversion processes, equipment, and industrial applications; Key technologies, equipment, and industrial applications for the recycling of livestock and poultry breeding waste; Technologies, processes, and industrial applications for urban organic waste recycling and resource conversion; The biotransformation, processing technology, and industrial application of bio based chemicals; The preparation process and industrial application of biobased functional materials.

Published over 300 high-level SCI papers in authoritative journals such as ACS Nano and Biotechnology Advances; We have undertaken four national key projects, including the National Key Research and Development Program for Synthetic Biology, the National Key Research and Development Program for Frontier Biotechnology, the National Key Research and Development Program for International Cooperation, and the National Agricultural Major Science and Technology Program. We have also undertaken over 100 other projects, including the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the Jiangsu Provincial Key Research and Development Program. Our research funding has exceeded 10 million yuan per year (in the past three years).
