The head of the safety science and engineering research team is Professor Ma Zhongfei. There are currently 31 teachers, including 6 professors, 7 associate professors, 5 doctoral supervisors, 1 member of the National Safety Education Commission, 2 provincial safety production experts, 6 municipal safety production experts, and 15 master's supervisors, all of whom hold doctoral degrees.

Main research direction:

1. Prevention and control of hazardous and harmful sources and health

Gas water jet ventilation and dust removal technology and equipment; Monitoring technology for industrial toxic and harmful substances; Water mist fire extinguishing and foam fire extinguishing technology and equipment; The fire characteristics and fire prevention and extinguishing technologies of new functional objects; Prevention technology for combustion and explosion; Preparation, characterization, and functionalization research of flame retardant materials; Monitoring technology for major hazard sources.

2. Emergency management and ecological environment security

Development and application of emergency response technology and equipment for sudden accidents; Exploration and development research on emergency capability assessment, risk assessment, safety testing, system safety management, safety diagnosis and other methods; Establishment and application of environmental ecological effects and ecological risk warning and prevention of invasive plants; Research and development of ecological restoration technologies for degraded wetland/lake/river ecosystems, as well as demonstration and application of ecological restoration; Research and application of detection technology for toxic and harmful substances such as PM2.5 particulate matter and organic waste gas (VOCs); Research on the development, characterization, and efficient treatment of toxic substances in environmental new functional materials;

In recent years, we have undertaken more than 70 scientific research projects with a total funding of over 9 million yuan, including more than 20 projects at or above the provincial and ministerial level. We have won 8 provincial and ministerial level scientific research achievement awards and published over 250 academic papers in important domestic and foreign journals, including more than 140 SCI and EI indexed papers. We have also been granted nearly 30 patents and trained nearly 100 master's degree holders.
