Recently, our team led by Professor Lu Ziyang published their latest research paper on Advanced Functional Materials (IF: 19) titled "Amine Engineering Metal Organic Porous Liquids Towards Enhanced CO2 Photoreduction Performance". Jiangsu University is the first completion unit, our students Xu Yangrui and Ren Yewei are co first authors, and Professor Lu Ziyang is the corresponding author.

The development of high-performance alternative catalytic systems for CO2 photoreduction is considered a promising approach to address future energy demands and reduce CO2 emissions. The adsorption and activation of CO2 on the catalyst surface are key factors determining the conversion efficiency. At present, porous liquids are mainly used for gas capture, separation, and storage. NH2-UIO-66 has abundant and uniformly distributed metal centers as catalytic active sites, and amino groups can also enhance the adsorption capacity of CO2. So far, porous liquids have not been applied to carbon dioxide photoreduction. The use of solar energy to convert carbon dioxide into fuel is a global research effort that plays a crucial role in achieving carbon neutrality goals. CO2 photoreduction mainly relies on the participation of electrons, and how to maximize the directed enrichment of electrons around the catalytic active sites is a key factor. Meanwhile, developing porous liquids with high-performance CO2 photoreduction performance remains challenging, and precise design of porous substrates and steric hindrance solvents will open up new prospects for high-performance CO2 photoreduction.
