On July 12-13, the 8th Environment and Health (E&H) Forum was held at our school's conference center. The theme of this forum is "New ideas for pollutant identification, new progress in environment and health". Academician Jiang Guibin, Editor in Chief of Environment&Health, Professor Xing Weihong, President of Jiangsu University, and Director Yang Donglan of Thermo Fisher, delivered opening speeches for the forum. Professor Dai Jiayin from Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Professor Zhang Zhen from our institute jointly served as the rotating chairs of this forum.
The 12 experts invited to attend this forum gave keynote speeches on several cutting-edge scientific issues in environment and health. The speakers and titles were: Professor Yingfu Li from McMaster University in Canada, "Rapid detection platforms for environmental and human pathogens using functional nuclear acids"; Professor Nan Sang from Shanxi University, "Identification of targets for air fine particulate matter damage and analysis of component interactions"; Professor Xiaoquan Lu from Northwest Normal University, "Sample pretreatment and catalytic degradation of organic pollutants"; Professor Cheng Gu from Nanjing University, "Mechanism of efficient degradation of perfluorinated compounds regulated by intermolecular forces"; Professor Juewen Liu from the University of Waterloo, Canada, "New DNA aptamers for environmental analysis" Professor Zhang Zhen of Jiangsu University "Construction and application of rapid biological analysis method for pollutants based on DNA materials", Professor Dai Jiayin of Shanghai Jiaotong University "Identification and health effects of perfluoroalkyl compounds", Professor Zhu Lingyan of Nankai University "Research on biotransformation and h

ealth risks of organic phosphate esters", Professor Liu Meng (Professor Zhang Zijie) of Dalian University of Technology "Research on online monitoring technology and equipment for biological pollutants", Professor Yang Zhugen of Cranfield University, UK "Original Paper Microfluid Device for Rapid and Onsite Waste Surveillance: a New Tool for Public Health", Professor Xu Cambridge of Sun Yat sen University "Combination oriented Analysis and its application in the identification of new pollutants", researcher Fu Jianjie from the Ecological Environment Research Center of the Chinese Academy of Sciences "Systematic exploration of the identification and risk of unknown new pollutants". The venue was fully booked, with over 60000 online viewers. Teachers and students actively asked questions, and the forum atmosphere was lively. Finally, Professor Xu Hui, the dean of our institution, delivered a closing speech and concluding remarks.
