Jamile Mohammadi Moradian, a PhD candidate at Biofuels Institute of Jiangsu University, has won the “2020 Outstanding PG Graduate and Excellent Thesis” award.
Professor Dr. Yang-Chun Yong supervised her PhD dissertation on “Simultaneous Production of Biohydrogen and Bioelectricity from Xylose with Microbial Fuel Cell: Performance and Mechanism”. In this work, for the first time they isolated a new exoelectrogenic yeast strain (strain JSUX1) to produce efficient biohydrogen and bioelectricity from xylose as energy/carbon source with the technology of MFC. The major results of this research was published as SCI paper on “Efficient biohydrogen and bioelectricity production from xylose by microbial fuel cell with newly isolated yeast of Cystobasidium slooffiae” in International Journal of Energy Research.
